Testimonials from cast members, parents, and fans of
Children's Musical Theatre of Oregon
"Our
daughter, Erin Foley, age 11, has been performing for us since birth it
seems. At birthday parties, she would get up on the table and sing at
age 2. She danced the Irish jig to the "Riverdance" video 1000 times
at age 4-5. We would always clap for her numerous performances and
hope that we were in some way supporting her desire to entertain, but
were not really sure of what to do with her passion. At age 10, she
insisted on auditioning for CMTO's production of "The Wizard of Oz".
She was asked to play the Cowardly Lion in the Emerald Cast. She did
such an amazing job and was so dedicated to the project ! She learned
alot about entertaining, and how much work is involved in a
production. I can honestly say, her involvement in CMTO has been a
turning point in her young life, giving her a quality outlet and
support for what she loves to do, rounding out her life beyond school,
soccer, friends, and playing a musical instrument. John and Rhonda
Taylor are able to provide an environment where the kids feel safe,
creative and cared for. They have been instructive, professional, and
truly patient. Erin is now taking voice lessons, dance, and is
involved in the CMTO "High School Musical" production where she
continues to be enthusiastic and dedicated, and is having alot of
fun. Because of CMTO, she has been able to find her "niche". She has
met many new friends with a similar interest in theater and
performing. It is alot of hard work for everyone, but well worth it if
your child has an interest in performing or being involved in theater
in any way." Kathy Foley ( mom of
Erin Foley, age 11 at AMS, Cowardly Lion in Emerald Cast "Wizard of
Oz", currently in "High School Musical" as auditonee, cheerleader, and dancer ).
"I can't say loud enough what a great experience my daughter
has had with CMTO !! Not only has she become more confident in herself as a
person and a performer, but she has found a new group of friends and an expanded
"family". I truly enjoyed my experience as well in helping put on the
production "Wizard of Oz" and am ready to volunteer again. Even though
there were many long hours, it was worth it to hear the applause the kids got on
a nightly basis. I encourage any child or parent that is interested to
come give CMTO a try - you won't be disappointed." - Jeff Wilson ( Ashland Insurance-Medford, and parent of Meghan Wilson - "Wizard of Oz" cast member, Gabriella in "High School Musical" ).
"CMTO and the staff provide the greatest opportunity to express
yourself onstage and learn to create your character. The staff is
very open to your input, and is also always looking out for you so you
look the best you can onstage. They are dedicated from the first
audition day to the last show, and have a terrific work ethic to spread
throughout the cast. Besides being tremendously professional
about their shows, the staff and cast at CMTO form a family for those
three months, and no one ever hesitates to listen to you or help
you. It is an exhilarating feeling when you can get on stage and
know that all the cast and crew are behind you 115%. And that is
the opportunity CMTO provides." - Hali Alspach ( Tin Man in "Wizard of
Oz", Sandy in "Grease" ).
"CMTO helped me gain experience, and some of the best friends I have."
- Jesse Sharpe ( Uncle Henry/Ozian Guard in "Wizard of Oz", Doody in
"Grease" ).
“My eleven year old daughter had the opportunity to play The
Coroner in "The Wizard of Oz". It was a wonderful experience for her.
It was her first play and although she started with a measurable amount
of confidence, the eight week process of rehearsals and the final
production only served to increase her love of acting and her
self-esteem. John and Rhonda Taylor are supportive of every cast member
and appreciate the hard work the kids put in. Their positive
acceptance of every kid’s ability level helps each kid grow at
their own pace without fear of criticism. We are looking forward to
"High School Musical", "Peter Pan", and "Scrooge" ! And kudos to
CMTO for allowing everyone who auditions to participate in the
production.” - Cybele Grimes ( parent of Maddy Grimes - Coroner in "Wizard of Oz", Kelsi in "High School Musical" ).
